Snowshoe Hike To The Peak

Are you ready for a showshoe adventure??

Saturday, March 7th 2015 - Begins In The Park at 1pm-4pm. You may bring your own pair of snowshoes if you have them, but we will provide snowshoes for those who need them. Please, no children under the age of 12. Register for this free event by calling Glacial Lakes State Park (320)239-2860 or Lake Carlos State Park (320)852-7200

DNR Program Discription

Meet us at the Park Contact Station for this 2 mile (3hr) hike to the highest point in Glacial Lakes State Park.

Not recommended for young children.

Rental of snowshoes will be available for $6 per day.

Please call the park office to reserve the correct sizes. (320-239-2860)

5th Annual Candlelight Event

Saturday, February 21st 2014 -

Come to the Group Camp area to begin trail runs

Event starts at 6:00 pm and ends at 9:00 pm

Join the fun, Rent a Cabin and enjoy the weekend

Hot beverages and snacks will be served

Not recommended for young children.

Ice Fishing Frenzy

February 1, 2015

Time is from 1:00 pm-4:00 pm.


Please bring your own equipment and bait, as we do not have enough for everyone

***Important*** MN residents do not need a fishing license to fish in the State Park. Those requiring a valid fishing license, please remember to have it during the program. Refer to the Fishing Regulations book for rules and regulations regarding licenses.


Park permits are required to attend this event so come early if you don't have a permit

This program is only opened to the elementry age children

Three different age groups and Many many many more eggs

National Get Outdoors Day

Saturday, June 13th

Friends activities from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm

On this day, all state parks are open to the public without charge

The Friends of Glacial Lakes State Park will be serving Turkey Bergers and a beverage to visitors and campers in Glacial Lakes State Park from 12 noon to 2 :00 pm

The Friends of Glacial Lakes State Park also have 3 prize drawings during this time

Stargazing - 2015

Photos

Glacial Lakes Astronomers and Stargazers Society (GLASS) will host a series of stargazing events at the park this summer.

Starting on May 16th and running untill late Fall these events will be scheduled for every Saturday of each month (weather permitting). Beginning at dusk and ending a few hours later. All interested people are to meet in the horse camp area approximate is at dusk.

Dusk will occur approximately as follows: September - 7:00 pm; October - 7:15 pm

There are two more events as of September 1st:

Saturday, September 19th - Dusk at 7:00 pm
and
Saturday, October 17th (wear a jacket) Dusk at 7:15 pm

Our "go/no go" policy is, if it is raining, the event will not be held and the event will be postponed one week.

Story Time In The Park

This program is designed for pre-school to early elementary school students, but all are welcome.

Beginning Canoeing

From 9:30 am to 11:30 am

Meet at the boat access near the beach to learn canoeing basics from a Naturalist.
We will cover safety, parts of the canoe and paddles, and learn strokes before heading out on to the water to practice our skills.
Equipment will be provided, so come enjoy a paddle on a quite lake.
CALL OR STOP BY THE PARK OFFICE TO REGISTER AHEAD OF TIME AS SPACE IS LIMITED.

DNR Geocaching Programs

Come learn the basics of geocaching during this hands-on program.
You will be provided with the GPS unit, instructions of how to use the unit and how to geocache before trying it out for yourself under the guidance of an experienced geocacher.
You will be able to try out several different styles of caches along the way, so come enjoy the thrill of finding a cache!

These programs are offered thru the “I Can” Program and requires registration.
You must register thru the “I Can” Program for these programs.
