2010 was a landmark year for the park because in that year Glacial Lakes State Park shared the services of a naturalist with Lake Carlos State Park. The Park Naturalist will be presenting a number of programs about the various geographic, fawna of the park and other topics of interest.

Story Time
Time: 10 AM – 11 AM

Description:

Come out to the park for a nature themed story time and activity. Each week will have a new theme, so come every week! We will read a book and then do an activity to follow. Activities very each week from short nature hikes to crafts. This program is designed for pre-school to early elementary school students. Call the park for more information regarding exact details of this program or directions to the park.

Beginning Canoeing
Date: Wednesdays 07/03/2013 to 07/31/2013

Time: 10 AM – 11 AM

Description:

Description: Meet at the boat access near the beach each Wednesday in July to learn canoeing basics from a Naturalist. We will cover safety, parts of the canoe and paddles, and learn strokes before heading out on to the water to practice our skills. Equipment will be provided, so come enjoy a paddle on a quite lake. Pre-registration required.

Wild Wednesdays
Date: Wednesdays 07/03/2013 to 07/31/2013

Time: 1 PM to 3 PM

Description:

Description: Meet at the picnic tables by the beach parking lot for a different nature program each Wednesday in the month of July. These programs are designed for children aged 5-15, but all are welcome. We will be exploring topics like frogs and toads, insects, fish, and more. Call the park or check online for more specific information regarding a specific date. Pre-registration required.

Special Permit Deer Hunt
Date: Tentatively Thursday- Sunday 11/14/2013 to 11/17/2013

Time: 1 PM to 3 PM

Description:

Description: Park to remain open during special resource management deer hunt on Nov. 14-17, 2013 (Tentatively)

To Apply:
Park will remain open, but visitors are advised to wear blaze orange if they visit while the hunt is in progress. Visitors should also check for hunt-related information at the park office when they arrive. This is a special area hunt permit, and a permit is required to hunt. A total of 30 permits are awarded for this antlerless deer firearms hunt.


Where To Apply:
At one of 1,500 ESL agents, at the DNR License Center by phone, or online. Applications can be completed when purchasing your regular deer license. Application Deadline: Sept. 5, 2013 License: A Area #: 919 (Glacial Lakes State Park)
